Reading the Level 3 to 7 Ladder
What the levels mean and how they stack
Aesthetics courses are labelled by level. The number tells you how advanced the course is, and it usually tells you what you must hold before you can start.
Level 3, the foundation
Level 3 is where most people begin. A foundation course teaches facial skincare, consultation, anatomy and health and safety. Level 3 anatomy and physiology is a separate certificate that many later courses ask for.
Levels 4 and 5, skin rejuvenation
Level 4 adds skin analysis, microneedling and chemical peels. Level 5 moves to practitioner level, with advanced peels, skin needling and LED phototherapy. Level 5 is the main gateway to Level 7.
Level 6, the specialist certificates
The Level 6 certificates in chemical skin peeling and skin needling go deeper into one treatment each. They ask for a Level 3 beauty therapy qualification that includes anatomy and physiology.
Level 7, the top of the pathway
Level 7 is the highest step on our pathway. The diploma covers more than a single certificate and asks for a Level 5 qualification in non-surgical aesthetic practice.
Why the order matters
If you book a course before you meet its entry requirements, you may not be able to start it. Message us before you book and we will check the step with you.
Ask which step is yours
Tell us what you hold now and we will say which course comes next, which dates suit and how to reach us in Finchley from Birmingham.
